I joined Minister Jean-Yves Duclos in Toronto today to announce the largest housing fund in Canada’s history. The $13.2 billion National Housing Co-Investment Fund will create up to 60,000 new homes and repair up to 240,000 existing units over the next 10 years.
Partners will play a critical role in the National Housing Co-Investment Fund. The federal government will work with provinces and territories, community housing providers, municipalities, the private sector, and Indigenous governments and organizations to support the creation and repair of affordable homes across the country.
Priority will be given to funding projects that help people in greatest need, like women and children fleeing family violence, seniors, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, those dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues, veterans and young adults.
